No TD Start…but the good life goes on!

Maybe it’s because I was trying to forget about missing the Tour Divide start, originally scheduled for the12th of June this year, or perhaps it was because of all the social and political discord, or maybe it’s just been because it’s been so damn hot!! Whatever the reason, getting on a computer and blogging about the Tour Divide and the preparation and status of, just simply hasn’t been at the top of my “shit that has to be done” list.

At any rate, no matter how we got here…here we are.

In spite of a decided loss of interest in training for 135 mile days, particularly with the low humidity, high sand content, wash boards, and temperatures, Ray and I have continued to ride and enjoy our bikes…of every kind.

June has forced us to even earlier rides, and higher altitudes to get away from the oppressive heat of Las Cruces. Over the last couple of weeks we have found ourselves moer and more at the top of Dripping Springs, Soledad Canyon, and in the Mesilla Valley in the early mornngs, as you can see from the photos. We have also ventured to Grindstone trails near Ruidoso, NM and to the 9,000’ altitudes near Cloudcroft, NM with our ladies (I would say “in tow”, but they were usually ahead of us!). We also did a bit of climbing on the Pinos Altos, NM to Sapillo creek crossing road in the Gila National Forrest. Big fun!!

Additionally, I finally got my Klite Dynamo powered lights, of which I will be writing a lot in a few weeks, after I get a chance to wring them out and get some first impressions.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy the pictures, and I’ll post some Bikepacking shots as we get into the monsoons of summer and out of the heat.

Ride On!!
